I like Kessel, but not when he improvises. Sounds blurry. He always sounds the same when he does single notes solo. He is a master at chord melody.

This looks like it was shot during a Great Guitars concert - notice the empty third chair; that would be Charlie Byrd's. The concerts usually featured Barney Herb playing duets, Charlie playing solo, then all three would play together in the second half. I think the bassist might be Joe Byrd (I can't see face clearly), but I've never seen Joe play solid-body bass; he usually play upright or a very cool Ovation semi-hollow body. You might want to also check out Tal Farlow; a very FAST cat.
