Uno degli ultimi veri giganti ancora in vita, splendido musicista e splendido essere umano, Pharoah ascoltandoti mi piace pensare che Coltrane è morto ma la sua vita è servita a qualcosa per altri.

Yeah, don't believe it. I saw him a few months ago at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles and it was one of the three best shows I've ever seen.

I have read somewhere that Pharoah isn't good anymore now, but that is some serious misinformation! By seeing these videos and seeing him live, I can easily conclude that he is still amazing, and definitely underrated.

Catch the quote "Out of this world" 1:43, a piece Sanders used to perform with Trane (listen to live in Seatle) -- Melts the heart!

Sanders never got over the fact he blew the most insanely genius shit ever with Coltrane 65-67, and after a while, nobody gave a fuck anymore. They can't even give the guy a Macarthur Genius Grant.

I saw Mr. Sanders last year in SF at Grace Church. It was one of the most amazing musical and spritual experiences of my life.

this is song just insn't the same with the tenor. coltrane on the soprano in the original album gave the song a free spirited atmosphere. I definately think Sanders is amazing though. |
