I miss Stan's drumming. But Mike still rocks on that guitar :)

Who else would he be playing this song with ?

I never adapted well to Steve's drumming, either, but it's like pitting Howie against Ron- no point. Benmont said in a interview that he has to work with a Metranome (am I anywhere near the ballpark ? What is that thing called ?)now because Steve has such perfect timing. He also says "Steve drives the band, and Stan drove along with the band." I personally like the loose Lynch style, and hope Steve will eventually loosen up a bit himself...

I just can't warm up to Ferrone's drumming. He has no feel, he hits the drums like a sledgehammer. Stan, we need you back, Man !!

I saw the film on the Sundance channel. 4 hrs. Fantastic. No MTV quick cuts, nice long shots of each player. Has a slow pace just like Petty. Excellent quality.

I was so bummed. The new Peter Bogdonovich documentary about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers premiered here in NYC for one night only on Oct. 15. They only publicized it via billboards; it wasn't even listed in the Village Voice -- so I MISSED IT. Damn them! But it is available through Best Buy, apparently. |
