If swearing is intended as just everyday vernacular then that's not in itself a problem. Eddie Izzard does that for example.
The problem is if the swearing itself is supposed to be the source of humour, because that's not really an adequate substitute for an innately funny situation.
There's nothing less funny or more embarassing than a comedian who expects you to laugh just because they used some swearwords. They would call it "adult" humour but it's actually rather lazy and childish.

Swearing is appropriate to the comic's personality. If you swear when telling jokes to your friends, it would be unbecoming to change your persona for the stage.

Well, the problem with swearing is that it doesn't really get you anywhere. Once you've said every naughty word, what do you do next? The only way to make durable comedy is to make the ideas themselves funny.

I have this album (well, stole it from my folks along with dad's richard pryor albums when I was a kid). It's called "The Button-Down Mind on Television" on Warner Bros Records. Great sketches on that album.

My Dad used to play all these stories when I was little... its sbrilliant to hear them again....thanks for sharing.... many laffs to be had if u hear the stories.... Bobs really funny!
