It's about creation and Adam and Eve. They live in perfection, but then they sin and are sent away. Later they have two sons, Cain and Abel. Abel is pure, but Cain struggles with it. Cain later murders Abel. God puts a mark on Cain's head. Then there's the whole thing with the Israelites being exiled in the desert and wandering for years. The books jam packed with stuff - not all of which relate to what Steinbeck wrote. I suggest you pick it up, if for nothing else, educational purposes.

It's about the lives of two families: the Hamiltons and the Trasks. It's supposed to reflect the stories in the book of Genesis in the Bible.
