There's a reason for that. Just break it down in categories of philosophy: Religious doctrines teach a metaphysics and epistemology of other-worldiness (i.e. mysticism) which leads inexorably to their ethics of self-sacrifice (altruism) which applied in a social context becomes some variant of government-heavy, rights-lacking system of control over everyone and everything (statism).
