Hello, First of I want to say I'm no expert by far and I don't have a legal background.
Using snippets is allowed, if you e.g. take part of a song for opening, fade that into another one for the latter half it sh(c)ould be fine (unless the video is commercial.). Funny you mention fight music, youngsters often say they hate classical but it's classical music that often makes a movie scene or trailer have that epic feel, a lot of good classic compositions are public domain. e.g.

InnSewerAnts, do you mean that I can use a little part of a song in a youtube video? Like, if you have a fight scene and you want some "fighting" music.. Is that allowed if it's not the full song and if it's not used in any commercial impact?

I was directed by my law class to watch this as an assignment, and I found it to be highly entertaining. However, I was distracted by thinking about what the characters would be saying next a lot of the time.

As a law student I was tickled pink by this vid. I haven't yet taken copyright and probably won't be able to before I graduate, but I feel like I have the basics down from this vid, lol (Truth is I already had the basics down from other courses, but this was a good refresher).
