Hmm, on my laptop with 2GB of RAM, Vista will use around 500-600 MB. I knew Vista used a lot of RAM, but man, that seems like too much. The only things I can think of are: I have Home Premium, not Ultimate (less components included, and therefore less components running?) and maybe it's gotten more efficient after updates, since your post was 11 months ago.

They use PowerPC's in the PS3 and the Xbox 360, they need processing power not battery life instead of the other way around which Apple needed.
