http://www.encognitive.com ADHD natural remedy - Herbal remedy for ADHD - ADHD natural treatment Over the years many attempts have been made to find natural therapies for ADHD in order to avoid the use of stimulants such as Ritalin. Very little research has been done in this area since the medical profession has focused their attention almost exclusively on the use of stimulant drugs. It does seem probable that some nutrients or herbal remedies could eventually be found to be helpful. Some herbal remedies used in ADHD include ginkgo biloba and St. John's wort. Here's a research abstract on ADHD herbal remedy. Effect of the herbal extract combination Panax quinquefolium and Ginkgo biloba on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder: a pilot study. J Psychiatry Neurosci. 2001 May;26(3):221-8. Oceanside Functional Medicine Research Institute, Nanaimo, BC. A combination herbal product containing American ginseng extract, Panax quinquefolium, (200 mg) and Ginkgo biloba extract (50 mg) (AD-FX; CV Technologies, Edmonton, Alta.) was tested for its ability to improve the symptoms of ADHD. AD-FX capsules were taken twice a day on an empty stomach for 4 weeks. Patients were instructed not to change any other medications during the study. After 2 weeks of the ADHD herbal remedy treatment, the proportion of the subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 31% for the anxious-shy attribute to 67% for the psychosomatic attribute. After 4 weeks of treatment, the proportion of subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 44% for the social problems attribute to 74% for the Conners' ADHD index and the DSM-IV hyperactive-impulsive attribute. Five (14%) of 36 subjects reported adverse events, only 2 of which were considered related to the study medication. These preliminary results suggest AD-FX treatment may improve symptoms of ADHD and should encourage further research on the use of ginseng and Ginkgo biloba extracts to treat ADHD symptoms. Comments: It may be preferable at first to just try one herb for a few weeks before adding another one. The combination of herbal remedy with pharmaceutical medication may be unpredictable. We suggest using the herbal remedy by itself, not in combination with ADHD drugs. http://www.raysahelian.com/adh...

This is complete b.s. He can't even pronounce the term right. Go back to the pulpit -- or the camera -- dude, and leave science to the scientists. Let me guess....he's selling an "alternative."

Oh yeah. I know where that comes from. My parents can be strict too. But most of the time they let me do whatever as long as I'm getting my stuff done.d

I'm still in high school. It's definitely tough. But I take medication and it definitely helps. But even with the medication, it's still difficult to stay on task.

how did u get through high school?i was babysitted from grade 1 to 9 in school, and even though i was disorganized, inattentive and at many time hyperactive-the teachers were able to babysit me.my hyperactivity is only supressed by my strict parents so,in class i'm able to hold myself even though i'm really agitated, shaking my legs, hands and keys-but when i'm alone at home, wow i'll run up and down the stairs continously, try and do stupid stunts, pretend to be a soldier a shoot stuff- it's tough

Well I was only 6 when I was told I had ADHD. So at that time I was just like "Ok. Whatever." Then I'd go back to whatever I was doing. It's not a big deal. A lot of people have ADHD. There's nothing wrong with you. You just have a difficult time focusing.

While, yes, most stimulant ADD meds are forms of meth, they are not addictive like meth. I've been taking adderall for almost 11 years and I have not developed any kind of addiction to it. I go the weekends and summers without it because I don't need it to keep my self under control. I don't need it at all. It's just makes it less of a struggle to get done all the things I have to.

when he admits that its on a level of cocaine, it sort of gets dismissed. but since add medication actually is "meth" than I don't see it as anything to dismiss... but american's are just stupid enough to give their kids meth if the white devil tells them to. Think for a second though: If in order to function in this society a person needs to be "tweaked" on meth, maybe that should say something about society. Maybe society needs the change more than the innocent children...

Or eat only certified organic products, including for snacks, which taste better natural anyway. Sweet things don't have to be bad for you. My mood is much more stable since I've done that and taken DHA omega 3 oils. Still have a harder time concentrating etc. than most people. I don't know if I'll ever be completely focused without resorting to drugs, and I haven't stopped trying things, but diet seems to make me less neurotic, which helps. Never thought I'd be agreeing with Mr Robinson. :P
