A clip of Ryuichi Sakamoto's groundbreaking Japanese electro group lip synching their peculiar brand o' j-funk on a syndicated black American t.v show. Watch out for the culture clash and interview with Mr. C shot on a famous LA soundstage in Hollywood. In this historic crossover appearance aired 12/20/1980 they discuss soul, disco and Yukihiro Takahashi's love of "punk", and he compares his band to "Kraftwerk". Ol' Don seemingly has no idea what's going on.

Of course, I don't think anyone can really beat the original. but YMO comes close just because of their strange style

yeah i herd that i was not paying attention but yeah i did hear it...what i was trying to say but it came out wrong which made lilmike tee off on me and all that shit...that YMO remade it its a good remake but it doesn't come close to the original you know what i mean?
BiggMykexero (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

myah74 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
when did the dells make this i remember the song but when was it made ??
l3lackman2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
yep, pretty harsh retort, though if you listen closely to the lyrics, YMO gives a shout out to Archie Bell and the drells at the beginning.
BiggMykexero (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
so...what are you trying to say? it's kinda fucked up that you called me a bastard yet alone a bastard nebraskan what i was trying to say is that ymo did not make tighten up first and it was a good remake and i was not looking for any hostility nor sarcasm and thanks for pointing out that i spelled DRELLS wrong and i appreciate that and by the way its BIGGMYKE holla at ya boy!
lilmikesf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
uh, thanks for the spurious Nebraskan comment, and that would actually be "Drells"...Farmer was in the dell... we appreciate your mastery of the obvious. point noted, now go about your day mr. "original".
BiggMykexero (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i hope you all know that they are not the original artist of the song...Archie bell and the dells are the original artists...this is more like a remake of the original so dont act like that they created it

I loved this performance on that show because it showed that Don C had an appreciation for all kinds of music. Even through the language barrier he managed to get a good interview and understanding of where they were coming from. Oh yeah I heard Don C was really intrigue by the "new wave" sound even though he was consider "old school" to the youth at the time.
