Start up of the F-16C is simple....no external APUs or other equipment is necessary. One switch turns on the battery and then another switch hits the Jet Fuel Starter. When you see the GREEN JFS light, unock the throttle and in less than a minute you're up to idle speed, and the only thing left to do is aligning the inertial navigation and perform pre-flight checks. BTW, the sound you hear at the beginning, its not an APU, its the motor from the canopy. You'll here a buzz, thats the battery, then you'll here it spooling thru N (nancy) stages. You'll notice he then glances over at the fan turbine inlet temp, oil pressure, nozzle position (NOZ) and RPM guages. After that he glances left and as the two lights go out on the left side panel, its all clear on engine start. He then reaches to the right, turns on the lights, and turns on navigation and other nav functions. As the navs start coming up and the ICP is lit up, you will notice the green lettering in the box to the RIGHT of the ICP, that is the inertial navigation system, and as that goes thru its checks you'll see "RDY" which means its ready and aligned. Then the MFD's come up and the HUD comes alive. The F-16C has a new wide angle HUD, which provides all flight info and weapons aiming Q's so the pilot can keep his head out of the cockpit and on target. Directly below the HUD you'll see the square box, called ICP or Inegrated Control Panel, on either side you'll see two MFD's that can show tac, nav, weapons and other information. When you see him hit the buttons on the MFDs thats the pilot inputting mission parameters from the box. For a great video on HUD display in the F-16, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... THANKS!!!

Compared to other jet aircraft, the F-16 is very simple to start. No ignitor switch or bleed valves to turn on. Nope. Just two switches throttle and wait and watch. Check out my vids, more F-16 stuff from the cockpit

Why in middle? Because its better it acculy better ibn controlin jusy imagine idk how to tell you this but its much much better as more space and acculy like you can feel the plane its hard to tell you

He does two "Run-Ups" one for the SEC check, since in SEC the engine is controlled by the MEC. He runs it up due to a PS3 (comppressor pressure line that runs to the MEC and controls the SEC mode torque motor. If there is a leak in the line, he will not get a throttle response. And the other Run-Up is to ops check his Emergency Power Unit with bleed air instead of hydrazine to make sure that s working correctly.

gah! I don't understand why they put the stick on the right side now-a-days in most modern us fighters instead of between the legs. It just doesn't feel natural, more like a video game. F-16, F-22, F-35, etc. Just feels wrong. But then again I'm not flying them.

To shut down the engine all you have to do is place the throttle in "cutoff". You don't touch the fuel master unless its an emergency. The "runup" of the engine is called a sec check, its to check the secondary control of the engine if the DEC were to fail. Check out my vids, its more f-16 stuff from the cockpit. I filmed it in Iraq

well going by falcon 4 allied force wich reproduces every thing falcon, it takes about 30 seconds to shut the engine off and thats it. once your engine goes off, you loose all power. you have batt, but thats really there to start the engine and must have avionics. just takes one flick of a toggle switch on the far left pannel to shut off the engine. called the master fuel pump.

the f-16c is the most modern day fighter besides the raptor. the start up sequence is all switch, no key. reving the engine dont take hardly any jet fuel at all. he's reving it to see if his throttle works right. part of the pre-flight checks he is doing. i know some other countries have the falcon(viper as the pilots call it) and the falcon without external drop tanks can carry a max of 7200 lbs of fuel at any time. with external over 13000 lbs. but that puts drag on the plane.

Wow the MFD's look way more digital in Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. Those MFD's look like Atari.
