sure sounds like American Bumblebee or the carpenter bee, both fat, black and brown, they bore fence posts, etc for nest building. They also pollinate and are people friendly, they love to hover and watch us :) I'm in SNJ too so, I'm pretty sure, likely the Carpenter bee.

Yes, I love the little dragonflies, they eat so many bugs. Some people are just so ignorant, or too set in their ways to see the right way to do things.

I have bees in Driveway ties which are hollowed out from age.. They are small bees but dont know if they are honey bees. I live in SNJ also and if they are honey bees, how do I find someone to take them.

Thanks to all for the feedback lately!!! I'll try answering questions, please just read for your reply. I'm a boiler plant operator for the US Navy, I make steam used to launch REAL jets from our "Land-based" air-craft carrier platform, Navy Lakehurst, NJ builds, retrofits, maintains all carrier launch and arresting gear. Trust me, it is a high pressure (no pun) job, many lives at stake if I mess up. Oh and beekeepers get stung plenty by their bees, it comes with the hobby :)

I'd love to have a hive. Are you have the same problem as everyone else with bees disappearing? I have an organic garden buy my neighbors don't. can you believe they sprayed because they saw dragonflies? What dimwits they are!
