I know this song because John Legend did it live at a concert.

Sure, rap music has plenty of downfalls, but when rappers sample (or steal, as some would say), we must search out the original song, as many of us on this page have done, and appreciate it. How many of us who had only HEARD of Nina Simone would have actually looked for THIS particular song if it hadn't been for Lil Wayne?

Lil Wayne brought this song from obscurity for a new generation. There are so few outlets for artists from the past to get their work played in the mainstream, and through hip hop, those geniuses have a new chance to gain more popularity and have their gifts enjoyed and appreciated, again.

The animals made a cover 1 year after this except made it rock and it sounds great but Lil Wayne not sure wtf he did just played the beggining of this and rapped for like 5 seconds then just started talking

The Animals, Lou Rawls and Lil Wayne... This song is legend...

This is an absolutely awesome song, of course it doesn't hold a flame to this version, but the Joe Cocker version has a nice Hearty-American flavor to it.
