Git is written in pure C, hence, Git is faster than Mercurial... Mercurial is written in Python. And there is nothing wrong with talking about Linux here.

He already compared it: "One of them is obviously git. And you really should pick that one. But the other one is Mercurial, which actually has pretty much the same design. There are huge differences in implementation and there are some differences in the detail, but it boils down to a very similar model. Git just does it better. Everything else, it's either centralized, or it's too unstable or too slow to use for anything big."
