can't believe people are taking sides over something they don't own or invent. The companies create the rift because they want to sell you stuff and you people take sides and defend it . You like what you like and if you haven't used both systems for a prolonged period of time how the heck would you know for yourself anyhow. I write and produce music and adverts I like use both and port content between the 2. Because the mac now runs XP i'll sell the pc .common sense .they both have merits.

That is an incorrect statement - UNIX doesn't have to "allow" it. Viruses can fool the OS by masquerading as a user and can eventually get root access in some cases. Also DOS was abandoned after Windows 98/ME. Today's PC OS is based on the NT Kernel which is on par with UNIX. NO OS is immune from Viruses - if it's on a network, it's a target. Just Google "Mac viruses" - the list is steadily growing. Sun periodically releases OS exploit patches for Solaris. Stop fooling yourself - no OS is God!
