i thought the eee booted RLLY fast cuz it doesnt hav a hard drive. I MIGHT BE GETTING 1 OF THOSE... it sucks that they dont have a cdrom

Xandros even in advanced mode is pretty crippled. Ubuntu boot up from SDHC is slow, but after that running off the card is fine. FireFox, Gimp, OpenOffice, even Compiz all work great running off of a SDHC card. If you don't mind the boot time, installing Ubuntu in this way is a good alternative. "The right uses" is in the eye of the beholder, installing Vista does not "destroy" anything. I run WinXP and Ubuntu on mine and have no complaints. Don't be so negative.

why booting the eee with ubuntu? It's slow enough with it's own system...
